Pastor Riley came to Deermeadows in September 2001. His desire is that his ministry would closely follow the teachings of Jesus and that the people of Deermeadows would be “A Family of Faith Living for Jesus Christ.” Dr. Riley believes that the Church is called to be “salt” to the world so that the people of God bring a blessing to the world. One of his great joys is teaching God’s Word. He places a high priority on worship and considers his sermon each Sunday as his “gift to God.” In addition to his sermons on Sunday, the pastor leads Bible Study in the Wednesday evening prayer service. He is also deeply committed to pastoral care. Michael has been married to his wife, DeDe, for 32 years. They have two grown sons of whom they are very proud. Michael is very active and enjoys running and swimming. He also loves to read. Prior to moving to Jacksonville, he served churches in Texas and Oklahoma. He holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. |
Lance Haney joined our ministry staff in April 2004. He graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education. Lance and his wife, Carleen, were married at Deermeadows in 1997. Lance loves teens and parents and strives to help them experience the abundant life Jesus promises in John 10:10. When not hanging out with teens and their families, Lance enjoys time with his family and dogs, running, camping/hiking, and photography. |

Susan Payne has been a member of Deermeadows since 1997. Before joining the staff, she was involved in the Single Adult ministry and the Preschool ministry, teaching Sunday School and serving in other leadership roles. Prior to her current role, Susan served as the Interim Youth Director. Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Spanish and an M.B.A. from Baylor University. She is pursuing a Master of Divinity at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Jacksonville.. |
 Tammy Benedict – Director of Childhood Ministry children@deermeadows.org Tammy joined the staff in February, 2005, but she was not new to Deermeadows. She has been a member since 1985 when she was involved in the Singles Ministry and met her husband Rex. They were married in 1993 and have two sons who are active in the children's ministries. Prior to coming on staff, she held several lay leadership roles in Singles, Women's Ministry and taught in children and preschool programs. Tammy also brings over twenty years of corporate administrative, finance and project management experience to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and an M.B.A. from University of N. Florida. "Ms. Tammy" likes to say she has the most fun job at DBC. After all, who else gets to put shaving cream or buckets of ice water on the Pastor or slide down the water slides?! |
