The Heritage of Deermeadows Baptist Church

DBC was born in the hearts of a small number of people in the mid-1970's. They saw a rapidly growing community much in need of a positive, evangelical witness for Jesus Christ. Sponsored by Parkwood Baptist Church and the Jacksonville Baptist Association, Deermeadows was established on May 23, 1976, with fifteen founding members. Worship services and Sunday School were started in an office complex in Deerwood Center. In September, 1978, a constitution was celebrated with 149 charter members.

Continual growth created the need for permanent facilities. By 1981, 13.9 acres of land had been purchased at the current church site, and a worship/education facility was completed. In 1986, a two-story educational building was finished. On March 15, 1992, the new sanctuary was dedicated. Late in 1992, additional land was bought to the west of the church bringing the total church property to 20 acres.
